i had thought i had some abdominal muscle strain, but now my belly button hurts. inside and when i touch it. i thought maybe it needed cleaned so i tried that. not feeling any better. any ideas?

: Observe for now but go to ER if one or more of these symptom occur: fever, nausea/vomit, diffused abdominal pain or pain moving to the right lower quadrant (the area between the navel and the right pelvis). Do not try to clean and manipulate the navel in the mean time. Take care.

Stop peroxide: First i'd try stopping the peroxide you're using a lot--you may be reacting to that. If it's not red, not having purulent discharge (pus), leave it alone and give it some time. If it's not improving, or if you get signs of an infection, please get it checked out by your doctor.

Soap and water: Clean during daily bath or shower with whatever soap you use for the rest of your body.  No need to use cotton swab, this is probably causing irritation of the skin.

Alcohol dries: I'm not sure why you were cleaning your navel with alcohol.  If you want to clean it out (and you don't have any open sores) consider hydrogen peroxide and a gentle swabbing with a q-tip.

Sounds like possible: Infection that is not resolving with topical antibiotic. It would be prudent to have it medically assessed.

Irritation: The belly button is an easily irritated area because it consists mostly of skin-on-skin contact. Avoid using the peroxide and the irritation should subside. If it does not, you may have a superficial fungal infection. See your physician about a topical antifungal cream.

See a doctor: Without examining that area i cannot say if you have a mole that you irritate when you scratch it or it is just dirt.

Get checked: It may be that you cleaned it too harshly and caused some local trauma. The redness and pain may also be signs of possible infection so it's better to get it checked by a doctor. Try not to clean it yourself until you get it checked.

i had a cyst removed from my ovary through laparoscopic surgery 3 weeks ago. they also cleaned up a small amount of endometriosis. my belly button is still healing but doesn't not hurt can. can i receive oral sex yet?
