Not fully understood: All the mammals do not have uvula ,it helps phonation  ( voice } gauge reflex , salivation , it is some times removed  for snoring in sleep apnea .

Uvula: Great question! It has long been thought that the uvula is "vestigial," meaning that it really has no specific purpose.  Having removed the uvula hundreds of times for patients who snore and have sleep apnea, I've found that not having one does seem to affect swallowing of nasal secretions,  specifically making it somewhat harder.  I think a purpose is to help with nasal mucous clearance

No such thing: There is no bone to "break" in the uvula which is made up of soft tissue (mucosa, submucosa) as well as muscle. There is no such thing as a broken uvula. There is a "bifid" uvula which is a congenital anomaly in which in appears forked.

Pressing your uvula: Hello. Very interesting question. Not sure why you would want to press your uvula but reactions that most probably would occur would be gagging. There is a rich supply of sensory nerves in this region that are sensitive to touch. Swelling could occur also.
