Hemosiderin: I answered this question earlier. The discoloration is from iron pigment deposition. If it is a cosmetic issue, consult a plastic surgeon, otherwise it is harmless.

Many conditions: There are many possibilities. It could be a venous lake. It could be colored from nearby fillings. It could be a pigmented lesion such as a mole. Always have to consider melanoma. If it's been there a long time without changing, it's very likely a benign process. If it is new, growing, bleeding, or painful, it needs to be evaluated quickly . Hope that helps.

TreatIng skin spots: Most flat dark spots (macula) can be treated with combinations of creams - retin-a, hydroquinnone and others. Common energy based therapies include certain lasers and ipl (intense pulsed light).  Any dark spot should be evaluated by a physician.
