External hemorrhoid: A swollen bump on the rectum is usually an external hemorrhoid. If it's painful use warm sitz baths and see your physician if it continues to bother you or it grows larger.

Hemorrhoids: At 18 years old it is most likely hemorrhoids. It is best to have a doctor check it to be sure. To avoid hemorrhoids stay well hydrated and eat a diet with plenty of fiber including fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains. Avoid alcohol and caffeine.

woke up this morning w/ painful bump the size of a grape near rectum. went to gyno & he said its a perianal abscess & gave me keflex 500mg 4x/day & told me to take epsom salt bath. pain is severe. should i wait and see or go to er in morning?

Rectal Abscess: If the Epsom salts is not relieving the discomfort and you have a temperature, notify the GYN MD who can determine the need for an E.R. visit or not.  If no response from the GYN MD go to the E.R. The antibiotics take awhile to work and drainage of the abscess may need to be done sooner than later.

Bumps : Bumps on the rectum can be many things. On the outside by the anus a small bump could be a thrombosed hemorrhoid, however many other serious conditions can present as a bump on your rectum like cancer. If you are young cancer is less likely... Your best course of action is to have a colon and rectum specialist look at it to make sure that it is nothing serious. You might also need a colonoscopy to make sure there are no other problems on the inside. Sorry if you had more detailed information i would have probably been more able to steer you in a more specific direction.

Hemorrhoid: Sounds like a hemorrhoid.  Go to the doctor and get it checked out.

See a doctor: Painfull lump in rectum needs an exam and evaluation in person by a doctor ,also so do parasites in the rectum
