How do you FEEL?: Around 5% of older folks always run elevated alk phos and trying to work it up never produces anything helpful; if the specimen is nonfasting and you don't have A antigen on your red cells, it's often high from intestinal alk phos. If all WBC's are normally formed and other cells are normal, I'd worry only if the WBC is very high. Lab "normals" are set so that several % of healthies are outside

i got a blood panel done and was told my white blood cell count is 96,600 and my b12 level was also a lot higher than it should have been, im being referred to a hemotologist this week, any ideas on what could be causing this?

Very high WBC: Are you sure you have the number right? WBC count 96,600 and not maybe 9,600? Definitely keep the hematology appointment. Unfortunately, leukemia is the most likely possibility. (Sorry, but you asked.) If you can't see the hematologist in the next day, please discuss it with the doctor who ordered the count and referred you to the hematologist. S/He should have discussed this with you. Good luck.

Inflammation: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, it is not feasible to provide a more meaningful opinion without examining you to understand what may be the source of inflammation.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Confusing data: In most circles a white blood count of 16.95 would mean 16,950 cells per microliter with a expected range of 4500-10,000.Pregnancy is known to cause an elevation of the WBC level. If the count were above 100,000 I would consider that a possibility &amp; rarely it could be at a lower level. Why the diagnosis was even brought up in that setting is confusing. I suspect the doc has some explaining to do.
