Yes: There are many types of devices to check eye pressure. Many do touch the eye. However, the technician will place a numbing eye drop before touching the eye. You will feel light pressure while the instrument is touching, but no pain. Most patients describe it as a "weird" or "interesting" sensation. Be well.

It is common.: The most common "grey spots" on the white of the eye are called pingueculae. These grey spots generally are nasal or temporal and are caused by "actinic degeneration"-- changes from being outdoors in the wind and sun. They can become inflamed and can grow onto the clear cornea and become pterygium, which could impact vision and require removal if they get close to the center of the cornea.

Nystagmus: Nystagmus is the medical descriptive term for what you describe. Nystagmus is not a disease. It is a descriptive medical term for an anatomic ocular manifestation.  It can be horizontal, vertical or oscillatory. It is something that can be either congenital or acquired. If it is congenital, it is generally benign. If acquired, it could be a sign of a neurologic condition that needs work-up.

Any time you have a weird: Sensation, twitch, feeling in your eyeball itself, then it's time to see your eye doctor. It could be anything, or could be nothing. In either case a dilated  funduscopic exam will reveal exactly what's going on. Then you can have peace of mind.

Eye injuries: Eye injuries are common in sports.  In general, one should be concerned if there are any visual disturbances, painful eye movements, bleeding into the eye, or severe pain of the eye just to name a few.

Injury to eye: It is important, in any type of eye injury, to seek an ophthalmologist to examine your eye, or eyes, to check for traumatic injuries.  There are many things that can happen as a result of an injury and can be minor type, such as a lid bruise or swelling; damage to the front of the eye like inflammation or cataract; or injury to the back of the eye that could lead to a torn retina or a detachment.
