People can get an infection of some sort involving any part of the body. Sometimes, people have 2 infections at a time, such as a viral influenza infection and a bacterial middle ear infection. Fortunately No: This condition is almost always psychiatric in nature.  So called pseudocyesis, occurs when a patient presents with the signs of pregnancy by history.  These signs however are generally not real and represent some inner need for the patient to be pregnant.  This is either conscious for secondary gain or unconscious in some psychological or psychiatric way.

Not a lot: Molar pregnancies are not real common, occurring in less than 1 in 1000 pregnancies in the USA.  But, they are certainly serious when they do occur.  Usual treatment is a D&amp;C, and follow-up after treatment for a molar pregnancy is quite important - as sometimes the molar pregnancy can recur after treatment.

History or symptoms: If you think you had a lesion that is concerning for herpes, your doctor can check blood tests to see if you ever had exposure (cold sores etc)
If you have an active lesion, they can send that for a culture as well.

CYA: The process of confirming pregnancy is often done with a blood test, not a urine test.  She may feel that there is a good reason that the urine test is being done too early and in that scenario wants to verify with a blood test (blood tests can be more accurate earlier on in a pregnancy).

?: It might be another ectopic, or it may just be too early to see the pregnancy on sonography.  Her doctor will figure it out (hopefully).
