Irresponsible friend: assuming  a sterile needle and syringe, as well as sterile saline solution were used, you should have very little to worry about. Make sure that  tetanus status is up-to-date. Also, if the needle or syringe  were not clean, or had been used before, then you could have been exposed to a number of serious diseases.  See your family doctor for further evaluation, and stay away from this "friend".

my two weeks old boy has a dry breathing problem and slight snot build up its too early in tge morning to buy saline solution, what can i do?

Nasal discharge: You are aleady on the right track, nasal saline drops is the . Good luckbest treatment but you can try to suction the nasal mucus discharge with a bulb   syringe  until you can get the saline drops.  If the trouble breathing persisted  see his doctor to make sure it is not caused by a lung  problem. Good luck.

ive got some brake fluid in my eye today ive washed my eye with saline pods from a first aid kit do i need to seek medical attention?

Not likely: Mechanics get motor fluids in their eyes all the time.  They aremostly organic,  are removed from the eye mostly with the first blink and toxicity is uncommon.  If the eye stings and/or hurts, then flush it out with water.  You need medical attention only if the eye becomes seriously red or the vision changes.

currently staying in a hotel and my almost 2 month old baby keeps waking up congested. i was suctioning his nose also with saline drops but now not much comes out only from one nostril. should i buy a dehumidifier for the time we will be staying in?

:  You may want to use humidifier to help loosen the secretions. You may also want to try to put the baby in any area of mattress with like allergy cover( like a plastic cover under the sheet) that reduces the dust that gets to the baby. Ask for damp cleaning of your room. Adequate fluid intake by the baby should also loosen the secretion for easy suction. No smoking around and be in nonsmoking area

do i need a prescription to buy sterile saline for a nebulizer?  will it work to break up chest congestion? cough, not wheezing-don't need albuterol.

Not really: Well, looks like you've got the albuterol in case you need it.  Keep in mind that sometimes the body's response to inflammed airways is a cough, so albuterol may help that as well.
Sterile saline is available at any corner drug store, wal-mart, target, etc.  In fact, many wound washes you find in the first-aid section are just sterile saline.  Just read the bottle.  Good luck, and see your doctor!

kidney ultrasound showed increased echogenicity suggestive of medical renal diseaseblood work doesnt match as wnl per pcp.originally got this done bc didnt have to urinate after saline iv infusions.should i leave alone or investigate further?

: All laboratory/imaging results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, normal blood test results do not rule out some renal lesions. You may wish to consult a nephrologist.    Wish you good health!

Basic and gentle: Saline is basically a weak solution of salt in water.  This closely matches the basic fluid component in our bodies and therefore is very similar to what the cells are used to "bathing" in.  Things like betadine, peroxide and alcohol are very damaging to the cells as is "letting the air get to it".  You should wet a gauze pad with saline and gently clean the surface of the wound.  Dress it after.

Using saline: During hemodialysis heparin is used to prevent clotting in the system at entrance ( arterial end ) when blood returns back ( venous end ) unclothed state . Some times heparin is contraindicated ( like reaction to it etc ) then saline is used continuously or intermittent flush to prevent clotting in extracorporeal system .

i was just sent to er for 3 bags of iv saline fluid, is that alot?

Not really.: For someone your age, it isn't all that much.  I don't know, of course, what the IV fluids were given for, but three liters should not cause any issues.
