: Most bilirubin is eliminated in stool, but a small amount is eliminated in urine. If bilirubin cannot be moved through the liver and bile ducts quickly enough, it builds up in the blood and is deposited in the skin. The result is jaundice. Many people with jaundice also have dark urine and light-colored stool, but some do not. Talk to your Dr about your specific situation/condition.

Depends: At least a 3rd of infants will develop some jaundice as baby develops more capacity to metabolize bilirubin that mom previously removed through the placenta. These usually peak in the first week and clear over the next week .In some breast fed babies it may linger for 3 weeks or so. However, there are other things that aggravate jaundice and these can require testing and treatment to prevent harm

i mistakenly took 4.5 g overdose of acetimenophen over 96 hrs ago. should i be in the clear? i have pinching pain 2 in under rt rib but no jaundice

See doctor: It is hard to say; the tylenol (acetaminophen) nomogram for toxicity was based on a 7g single dose. Taking 4.5 grams over the course of a day is higher than recommended, but with no symptoms, there's not likely anything to do (especially 96 hours out).  The risk also greatly increases with any liver disease. If you are concerned, see your doctor for lft tests to make sure everything is clear.

my baby is 63 days old. bili level went down from 13 to 4 when does his skin color turn normal? & does jaundice make skin darker when it clears out?

Jaundice of newborn: I am sure that for jaundice that is still present until 63 days of age, ur baby has been worked up by now to rule out other liver problems. You should talk to your pedaitrician about why it has taken this long to clear to 4. Also, after jaundice is cleared it does not make the baby's skin dark.

Hepatitis: What you described suggests viral hepatitis. It would be prudent to see a doctor.

Dark urine: Fi you drink a lot of water in the daytime and very little late evening or before you go to bed, you may have dark urine in the morning. The fact that it clears up when you drink water, is suggestive that you do not have jaundice. If you are concerned however, talk to your doctor.

Abdominal discomfort: It sounds like you have a mild abdominal discomfort and you do not believe you are jaundiced. If the discomfort is not improving in the next days, having new symptoms or becoming jaundiced informing your GP will be the first step I would recommend, otherwise try to stay well hydrated and make sure you have regular bowel movements.

Jaundice: Jaundice occurs due to build-up of bilirubin which turns skin yellow. Can happen from biliary problem (liver, gall bladder, pancreas disease) or bursting red blood cells (hemolytic anemia).  Sometimes, first sign of jaundice is scleral icterus (yellowing of whites of eyes).  I imagine that is what is referred to as "white jaundice" which, to my knowledge, is not an official medical term.
