Maybe just her: Most people have regular 28 day periods, but some folks just don't follow the rules and periods may be irregular for a number of reasons, including stress, weight, illness, medications, etc. For some, the only regularity is irregularity.

The birth control pill will regulate your periods while providing birth control. Long acting contraception like the implant (Implanon) or the IUD (e.g. Skyla) will not regulate your periods but will provide extremely effective birth control.

~2 wks aftr fertiliz: A home pregnancy test will generally be + approx 2 wks after fertilization, or about the time that a period would be expected if cycles are regular.If they are irregular, this still applies.   Ovulation occurs about 14 d before an expected period--so if your cycle varies from 24 to 35 days, ovulation might be as early as cycle day 10 (10+14=24d), or as late as cycle day 21(21+14 =35d).
