Reasons  - if you: Have a suicide plan that you might act on, that is a medical emergency that warrants immediate help (er).  If the depression causes you to lose touch with reality or it is so severe that you can't function (don't eat,  don't wash, either can't sleep or sleep all the time) these could be reasons for admission. If you are suffering see a psychiatrist or a pyschologist soon - so you can feel better.

Need hospital for: sustained chest pain, difficulty breathing or face/ lips turning blue. Agree with earlier response to do telemedicine first unless you require urgent care.

Accepted Answer

Regular visits: You need to regularly see your family doctor or nephrologist, either of whom can order bloodwork to follow his serum creatinine.  If it is over 4.0, most nephrologists will want to start dialysis.  Presuming that he is not at that level, now is the time for him to see a surgeon to have an arterio-venous fistula placed to make hemodialysis easier to perform.

!! right away!!: That is a very concerningly high blood sugar - you should call your regular doctor if you have one; but if not then you should go to the doctor right away, and  see if you need to be admitted for treatment of you hyperglycemia.

Depends on…: Location of burn & how large an area is involved. Burns of face, hands, joints, genital areas can be more serious than those of other areas. Large burns, especially if blisters break, may be difficult to manage by yourself & more prone to infection; so seek medical attention depending on above info. Fp may be 1st step unless burn is large or one of those special areas.

Very rarely, except: Hi. Parathyroid problems break down to either primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) or hypoparathyroidism (HoPT) (secondary hyperpara is NOT a parathyroid problem, but is a physiologic response). PHPT only needs a hospital when you're in the operating room to have the parathy adenoma(s)/hyperplasia removed. HoPT may need ER for calcium treatment. See your endocrinologist!

When lightheaded: Prolonged vomiting can lead to severe dehydration, which is typically manifested by severe fatigue and lightheadedness when getting standing.  If you develop these symptoms and you still cannot keep fluids down, you probably need to the hospital for intraveous fluids and other therapy to treat the vomiting.  High grade fevers should also prompt early vists to the er.

Not life threatening: If you are physically healthy and have no underlying heart disease and do not abuse drugs, then you probably don't need to go to a hospital when you have a panic attack. If you are in treatment and have medications to relieve panic attacks as needed, it would be good to take them. If your anxiety symptoms do not subside, then you can go to an er to get help for the panic attack.

Remove doubt, now.: Severely bruised and cannot bear weight means that the potential for damage is high. Apply ice and get to the hospital as soon as convenient, . Not to do so, may increase the possibility of magnifying the problem.
