2-3 weeks: I would count on two to three weeks, depending on how deep the scratch is and if it gets infected. Total healing time is usually given to be 6 weeks, but 2-3 weeks until it looks pretty good.

Pressure: Apply direct pressure.If there is that much bleeding, you should see his doctor within 24 hours.

Be seen: Go see an ophthalmologist or to an emergency department to be seen. While it is most likely an abrasion to the surface of the eye, she should be seen to rule out more serious injuries that could threaten her vision.

Need to see doctor: If injury stops in the conjunctiva- it is OK

But can not be sure it is not affected cornea.

Corneal abrasion need to be treated.

Eye injury: This needs to be evaluated for internal damage to your eye such as microscopic bleeding, inflammation, high pressure, or a retinal problem. Please see an ophthalmologist.

See a physician: A bloody nose is not uncommon but one lasting 20 min is serious for many reasons, blood loss and why?It occurred.  You need to see a physician to see if it is a local problem or a more generalized problem.

: Even after uneventful cataract surgery, it is not unusual to notice traces of blood in the white of the eye (conjunctiva).  Several eye drops, including steroids, are often prescribed after surgery to protect against infection, swelling, inflammation, and to reduce discomfort. Superficial bleeding should resolve as the eye heals.

i'm having eye surgery and there will be some bleeding. do i need to stop taking fish oil supplements prior to that?

Accepted Answer

No: If the surgery planned will go through an area that might bleed you should be off aspirin, blood thinners and nsaids.  But fish oil will not affect this and can be continued.

after having a epistaxis and a small balloon catheter put in to stop the bleeding i lost vision in the eye on the same side it was put in?

This is very rare: If the epistaxis was arising from a large artery in the back of the nose and a balloon catheter was necessary, it is theoretically possible that an embolus (blood clot) could have been transmitted to the ophthalmic artery.  You need to see an ophthalmologist ASAP.
