Yes: Implanon is an extremely effective form of birth control- possibly more so and definitely equivalent to a tubal ligation or vasectomy.  The side effects most commonly are irreg bleeding or spotting, acne is possible and then horone symptoms such as moods swings, headache, nausea and rarely wt gain ( although low risk for wt gain).  Tends to be very safe and if not tolerated- easy to remove.

Yes: As long as it is in the tissue, then it will still release its medicine. It can make it harder to remove however.

Yes : Thyroid medication or any other medication does not decrease the effectiveness of  implanon.

Still effective: Implanon is designed to be effective for 3 years, so you should still be fine after 2 years.  If you are significantly overweight then you may not want to push it to the full 3 years.

Gynecologist: Weight gain is a risk factor for Implanon. Also there is data that the implant may be less effective in patients above 70kg so need to consult with physician especially if considering continued use.

Remove: Needs to be removed after three years -- no matter what. See your doctor if you're at the 3 year mark.

ASA  IT IS INSERTED: It is inserted within seven days of start of the oeriod and becomes effective as soon as it is inserted.

Very effective: Implanon is a very effective method of contraception on its own but no method is 100%. Implanon does come close. You need the condoms to decrease the risk of sexually transmitted diseases because the implanon does nothing to help with this. Hope this helps.
