Check progesterone: Have your doctor check a progesterone level on the 21st day of your cycle. If it is low then you did not ovulate. Birth control uses Progestin, not progesterone. 

You can also check with an ultrasound.

No ovulation: Similar to combination birth control pills, NuvaRing prevents pregnancy by releasing hormones into your body. NuvaRing suppresses ovulation — keeping your ovaries from releasing an egg. NuvaRing also thickens cervical mucus to keep sperm from reaching the egg.

Possible: One day late means you have not had hormone suppression for 8 days. It is possible that the ovary wakes up and starts the ovulation process. Use another protection during this month.

Variable time: Ovulation may already have occurred, or occur in 1-14 days. Ovulation may also vary up to 6 weeks. With the inadequate duration of use of contraception pregnancy is a significant risk.

on nuvaring, is it normal to occasionally feel my ovaries 'pinching' like i'm ovulating? only happens around the time i'd be ovulating. concerning?

Nuvaring symptoms: Admittedly, I am not an expert but as i understand, the ring really has minimal side effects.  If your symptoms occur around the time of ovulation, unless it changes, it can be assumed that its simply the act of ovulating.  If you symptoms progress, you should see your prescribing doctor.

i stopped nuvaring after 2 years. i'm on month 1 and period is 5 days early. is this common? will next months ovulation be normal or should i worry?

It's been one month: This is your first period not on birth control. You are now back to your normal menstrual pattern not the pattern controlled by using Nuvaring. You will have to track your cycles over the next few months to determine what is normal for you.

Too early to tell: You must wait until you are about 5 days late for menstrual period and do home or office pregnancy test to determine your status. If you do an earlier test and it is negative you should repeat it at the time frame described above.

i am on second month of nuvaring,  on day  four of the new ring i had unprotected sex with ejaculation.should i take plan b? when do i ovulate?

Accepted Answer

No ovulation: Most forms of birth control block ovulation, which prevents the pregnancy. As long as you have been using the NuvaRing as prescribed, you shouldn't need to use plan b. If you had a longer gap between rings than 7 days, you should use plan b.
