Not common, but OK: But most likely you are voluntarily contracting your stapedius muscle in your ear.  This tiny muscle contracting can cause your ear drum to tremor, which might sound like thunder or a drum beating.  F it is voluntary, it is almost certainly not harmful, but you may want to have it checked out by your local ent.  Best wishes.

TMJ syndrome.: TMJ syndrome is very common and typically responds to an over-the-counter NSAID. If it persists I would see your dentist as you may need some adjustment of your bite.

Several possibilitie: Ther could actually be water-in the ear,some earwax-cerumen blocking the area or neaxt to eardrum or some other eustachian tube dysfunction as well as allergies/sinus infection/ear infection fluid.If does not get better see a doc.
