i have reoccuring coughs and fever but mostly coughs.i work in a call center.what can i do to minimize this?

Throat lozenges: You're in a tough position!  your livlihood depends upon your voice.  Try throat lozenges, drink plenty of liquids like tea with honey.  Rest your voice when you're not at work.  If you have a lot of nasal discharge, you could try a decongestant or a sinus wash.  Hope you feel better soon!

well i took my temp and it was 99.8 but arent fevers like in the 100.0? is it high enough to be called a fever?

No: Most consider a fever to be an elevation over 100.5f or so.

i had a fever and the dr gave me medicine which called ciprocare500,  but i feel good now can i ignore taking the medicine?

NO: The DR gave you the Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for a reason.  And the dose and time of taking also for a reason

my child has a 101.6 fever that won't break, i've tried all day! when's a good time to call the dr?

Before midnight: Be sure you are using his/her current weight to dose the childrens' tylenol or advil, (ibuprofen) as they rapidly outgrow their last dr's appt doses by wt. Also try both Ibuprofen & acetaminophen, as some fevers are better controlled by one or other. Don't forget to avoid aspirin. If still playing, observe. If not usual self / won't eat/drink, call dr. Asap.

Now: About 8-10 days ago. An elevated temperature longer than 3-4 days should be evaluated for cause. Time to go.

10 yr fever 3 days of over 103. went away and is now back w/ cough. should we call the dr? he was feeling really good yesterday.

Yes: When the acute illness leaves and then symptoms return with cough it raises the possibility of the patient developing a secondary bacterial infection.  I would check with your doctor to see if there is a need for an antibiotic.

i woke up with a fever of 102 and it has gone down to 97 now. i called in to work for the morning, should i still take the whole day off?

Working and illness: It depends on 1.  Your work.   What do you do?  Who would you be exposing to an infection?   2.  You.  How do you feel?  Besides fever, are you vomiting or having diarrhea?   You could also be a superemployee and  call and *ask* your boss if s/he wants you to come in having had a fever of 102 in the morning.

Bad sign: Fever that is going on for more than 4-5 days is caused by infections or some other serious illness. This requires a medical check up. So you should go see your doctor and get a medical check up soon.

Need more info: It depends upon several things.  What is your child's age? Does your child have additional symptoms like cough, runny nose, sore throat , diarrhea or abdominal pain? Fever is the body's reaction to infection.  If your child is less than 3 months old, please call your pediatrician right away.  Otherwise call your pediatrician if child is having fever with other symptoms.
