EKG: It is called an electrocardiographic heart monitor.  A print out from the machine is called an electrocardiogram and is abbreviated EKG or in modern medical lingo, more often a ecg.  The beeping is generally set to be more noisy when the heart rate is irregular, to help warn clinical staff who may not be able to continually look at the monitors.

Get a second opinion: Pericarditis is a complex syndrome with many causes. If your local doctor does not have a solution then you should probably get a second opinion.

If rest HR is &gt; 140 : There are many causes of high hr. Svt comes out of nowhere, results in fast palpitations, and usually hr &gt; 140.  Sinus tachycardia can occur with anxiety or any illness, or pregnancy, or stimulants such as nicotine and caffeine. If your hr is less than about 100 at rest, that is normal. You can find out your average hr with holter monitor (doc orders). If u feel ok, go to outpt doc, not hospital.

Telemetry: For inpatient ambulatory patients, electrodes are taped to the chest and a transmitter box is attached to the trunk area. The heart rhythm recording is then transmitted wirelessly to a monitor at the nurses station. Bedside monitors don't allow the patient to walk about the ward freely. Other set ups allow the patient's heart rhythm to be recorded in a gadget strapped to  the body. Finger styles.

110-160 is normal: A heart rate in the 110s-160 region is completely normal. Sometimes you might hear the heart rate dip down or get even faster than the baseline. This is called a deceleration (slowing down) or acceleration (speeding up). Accelerations are good. Depending on the amount of fluid, or baby's movement, you can also have decelerations. You doctor will order more tests if the heart rate is abnormal.

Chest pain(CP) not: Heart pain is probably your symptom. A common cause of CP in young males is chest wall pain/costochondritis, acid reflux, asthma, pneumonia, bronchitis. If the hospital said you were fine probably you don't have a heart disease. Stay with your primary care doctor to find out the cause of your cp.

High HR: If you HR was that high and doctors were talking about SVT, then they would have had you see a heart specialist or not let you go home if it was truly worrisome. Do you have a primary care doctor or nurse you could see to check?

Tachycardia: once the infection is fully gone and you get rehydrated it should subside,  perform a virtual consult or see your PCP if it doesn't
