Steroid alternative: There are steroid alternatives in topical formulation.  Such include, Elidel (pimecrolimus) and protopic,  unfortunately,  these are nit much more effective than Hydrocortisone and are very expensive.   Wwww.drbader.com.

Ans: Sometimes takes a while there are some medications. Also to treT the symptoms Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and or hydrocortisone cream. If these Otc medications do not work see your doctor

: If a medication or supplement causes allergic reaction you have to stop that offending agent, not just using an antihistamine. You should see a rheumatologist for a thorough evaluation, do not just rely on OTC herbal products which may be harmful at times. Good luck.

May be normal: Baby's skin is very thin and thus veins can be obvious. Veins are normally greenish. If the "veins" you mentioned are of different color, your  friendly pediatrician maybe able to help you.

Dryness: I am assuming you mean that you want to moisturizer your baby's skin.  There are a lot of products out there, including non-soap washes (like cetaclenz and others). Basically you want something that doesn't have any fragrances or colors (dyes).  And applying a moisturizer right after a bath, while the skin is still moist, will help lock in that mositure.

Dark spots: This is a reaction to the insect bite it takes 5 weeks for skin to regenerate its normal color use lotion to sooth skin avoidance of bites is the best tx.

Just as important is knowing the cause of the inflammation so that the underlying problem can be treated.  Inflammation is a common response to some type of insult or disease.  Steroids can have serious side effects and are usually used for a limited time.  Treating the underlying cause is critical.
