Probably just you: If they start causing you to have sleep apnea, get them removed. There's no explaining why some folks have big ones.

Throat infection : The group of symptoms listed can form a cascade. Tonsils can be swollen from infection, possibly viral or bacterial. Referred  pain from the throat to the ears is common, so the ears hurt. When there is an infection in the throat, lymph nodes in the neck would swell, which may become sore, and cause the neck to feel stiff.

Probably viral: Blisters on the tounge with swollen tonsils is most often caused by a virus. There are other cause possible. Sometime strep can cause the swollen tonsil while the tounge could be due to a vrus at the same time.. Might want to see your pediatrician.

May be  sublingual: May be  lymph nodes or the sublingual glands You cab discuss this  with your physician and/or see a ENT specialist.

Infection: The tonsils can get chronic infection quieting down with antibiotic use and then flaring up again.  Adenoids are also usually infected and thus the name t&a for the surgery usually performed after thorough exam by ENT specialist.

Depends: It depends on why your tonsils are large.

If your tonsils are enlarged suddenly due to a bacterial infection (tonsillitis) then you may need antibiotics.  If your tonsils are always large even when you are not sick, you could have them removed if you have sleep apnea. If only one tonsil is large, you should be seen by an ENT surgeon.

See answer: Rest, Increase fluids, salt water gargles can help. and if they persist, you get sore, any fever, any shortness of breath or difficulty swallowing, then you need to be seen to rule-out an infectious process requiring antibiotics and tx.  best wishes.
