More caution: Diabetic patients should be treated the same as anyone else. However, the diabetes needs to be well controlled. If a patient has uncontrolled diabetes they will be more prone to infection and have delayed healing. Diabetic patients tend to have a higher risk of periodontal disease. If periodontal disease is rampant blood sugar control is more difficult to attain as well.
