Yes...: Proper use of icing/cool packs helps reduce swelling..Apply gentle icing-pressure for 10-15 minutes 3-4 times/day for a day or two often helps with swelling after minor injuries/bruisings/contusions etc.....

Yes: Not ideal approach.  For a skin abscess, especially on the face to heal, one needs the CD8 immunocytes circulating in the blood stream to identify the bacteria involved, recognize the threshold level of immunogen In the bacterial cell and attack and destroy the bacteria- the healing process. As such one needs warmth which increases the blood supply to the lesion and thus promotes healing.

Hit head: As long as you do not have bleeding, have no nausea, dizziness, no blurred vision, no light-headedness, no severe headaches - (all of these indicate concussion and possible sub-dural bleed) - you should be fine..

Rash:  At minimum, this would need to be visualized to diagnose it.

See a neurologist: There are many types of headaches and many reasons for each type. You should speak to your primary care physician who can refer you to a neurologist. It would be helpful for you to keep a "headache calendar" by noting down the timing, frequency, duration, and intensity of your headaches. Try Benedryl: If he is itchy you may try the children's benedryl too. Watch for a while to see if any rash or blisters appear it he has come into contact with a allergen;bush/plant. I am assuming this is just some part of his body and not the whole body. May also try Hydrocortisone cream topically.
