Could be normal: It's not diagnostic, so it could be implantation from a pregnancy or a miscarriage.

Unsure: The hCG injection you too could cause a positive test - ask the doctor who performed the transfer to check the levels of hCG in your blood - they will begin to rise within a week or so of the transfer.

Repeat Ultrasound: After IVF, one can see several different scenarios. It is best to wait and repeat the ultrasound. Do not feel anything is wrong till a repeat ultrasound is done. Early ultrasounds can be confusing. sometimes, twin pregnancies happen even with 1 blastocyst transfer as the blastocyst can divide. However,  growth discrepancy can happen and one may survive and the other may not. Good Luck!

Not really.: As anxious a time as this is, symptoms are an unreliable indicator of good or bad outcome.  Have to just hang in there.

IVF positive?: A positive 13.5 days post "trigger" with 10k units is probably secondary to the HCG (trigger).  If embryo transfer is successful, the HCG from an implanted embryo will be reliably positive in another two weeks, so obtain another serum HCG then to be certain.

i have had tv u/s after ivf pregnancy at 6 w 5 days (h/r 110), 7 w 4 days (h/r 130) and 8 w 4 days (h/r 140). the h/r seem slow. is this a concern?

No: Who told you that 130-140 is slow? Do not believe them, and if you're getting your info from the internet - do yourself a favor and stop. Normal fhr in the first trimester can be anywhere from about 120-170 or so, and that's all pregnancies not just ivf. Good news!

if you have 5 day ivf transfer & it implants say 2 days later.  would the measurements of gest sac reflect 5dt date or the implant date on u/s scan.

Possible: Its possible but all these measurements by imaging including ultrasound are relative not 100% exact.

No : This is not normal and may be caused by something other than the ivf. If it is severe i would seek your doctors attention.

Take a test: She could take a pregnancy test and find out. They are cheap, reliable and available  at any pharmacy.

Don't worry: 1. This could be a sign of implantation as the embryo is hatching and trying to imbed into your uterine cavity


2. The spotting could be residual from either the egg retrieval or some cervical irritation from the embryo transfer- was it a difficult embryo transfer?
