Don't know: I am not sure what exact "remedy" you are using. Olive oil by itself will not likely cause dark spots to fade. Things like tretinoin and hydroquinone can help. Although time will help to fade most hyperpigmented spots from acne. And treating with things that may keep you from getting acne lesions will help keep them from forming in the first place.

: Use an approved insect repellent to ward off insects. The dark spots reflect inflammation  and will disappear but may take months to  years.

Red Spots: Bleaching creams are used to treat brown spots not red spots. You could use Mederma or kelocote both of them are over the counter.

Dark spots from Acne: This is called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.  Your best bet is careful daily sunscreen use, sun protection and time.  The dark spots will generally fade, but may take up to a year, even with good sun protective behavior.
