Late period: Sometimes people have an off cycle. There is not always a clear cut reason. If your test is negative the this indicates you are not pregnant. i am sorry to hear of your recent symptoms.  However, if you already believe that you have mercury poisoning any answer that the fine dentists graciously responding from this site will probably be disbelieved.  If you truely have mercury poisoning i would look into any fish or seafood you have eaten.  Otherwise, my real recommendation is to find a skilled diagnostic physician who has seen symptoms like yours before.

URI, cold, bronchial: Change in quantity and type of mucus in response to a bronchial infection can taste different in your mouth when coughed up.  Resolution of the cold, bronchitis etc., should return things back to normal, no apparent taste.  Regular mucus probably has some minimal taste but you just get used to it and don't notice it.  You're noticing the change.

Medication?: Often medications along with acidic saliva can create a metallic taste.  If you're taking a medication, try rinsing your mouth first with warm water with 1teaspoon baking soda mixed in.  This rinse will neutralize acid mouth and could reduce or eliminate the metallic taste.  If you have silver/mercury fillings, same thing can occur.  Try the rinse.  If not successful, see your physician.
