Anytime: Fibroids can be removed at any time. However is not indicated to removed fibroids at the time of delivery because the increase blood supple to the uterus and the increase risk of complications.

10-12 hours : Most laparotomy patients are up & walking after 10-12 hours. Most do well unassisted and it helps with recovery and helps prevent lung problems, blood clots, and bowel dysfunction. It may take 1-2 weeks before you can walk comfortably without pain meds & 4-6 weeks before you can walk as before without risk of injuring your surgical scar. I hope this helps.

Maybe: It is always difficult to decide when to remove fibroids as they are so common. Most are not causing symptoms and have been reported to be present in up to 75% of all women. They may interfere with pregnancy, labor and delivery, cause increased bleeding and/or pain and it is at that point that a decision to remove the fibroid (myomectomy) is made. Is it painful enough to risk surgery?

Mixed: The fact that it is moveable would suggest it may be easier to remove; however, sheer size may make it more difficult.

Asymptomatic : Asymptomatic fibroids do not need surgery with few exceptions.
1. Growing after menopause. Remove because of risk of sarcoma. Sarcomas are very rare and grow rapidly. Pre-existing fibroids do not develop into sarcoma.
2. Blockage of the kidneys. This can occur without symptoms, and is detected by ultrasound of the kidneys, which can easily be done during pelvic ultrasound.
3. Blockage of blood low from the legs, usually if noy always a symptom since one leg will swell.
4. Patients at risk of ovarian cancer when the ovaries cannot be palpated on exam or seen on ultrasound. This is a soft call since it is not clear that pelvic exam or ultrasound detects ovarian cancer without symptoms, but I have saved a few women from advanced cancer by sticking to this rule.

one lrg fibroid removed april 18th w/hysterscopy. 2nd menst. cycle started yesterday and today, big clots and pain. is this going to stop?!

Maybe, maybe not: The bleeding may stop if it is coming from the surgical site itself. However, fibroids tend to be multiple in presentation and if that is the case, the bleeding may not stop. In any event, you need to contact your surgeon for clarification and re-examination.

No: A 6 cm fibroid can be removed with surgery.

6 months on, i am still experiencing pain which is getting worse, this pain is on the side where the operation took place.

Adhesions etc...: If you were having pain before surgery, then a fibroid may not have been the cause. The incision can cause pain. Adhesions can form after surgery. It is not uncommon to hunt for a cause for long periods of time without a difinitive answer when it comes to female pelvic pain. "pelvic floor dysfunction" is an alternative theory for pelvic pain that persists after all possibilities were ruled out

i had d&c  to remove large fibroids as well as possible cancerous polyps  on july 28th 2015 .still bleeding, clots, soaking pad 30 min is this norm  ?

Be seen now: If you are soaking a pad every 30 minutes, you need to be seen immediately. Call your doctor and go to the ER NOW.

i am having a d&c done to have fibroid and polyps removed. i ovulate the day before procedure. can i have sex up to the day of surgery? could there be a chance of pregnancy after procedure?

: It is highly unlikely given your age as well as the type of procedure you will be having. 
However, it is best to be safe and avoid intercourse.
