Infections, allergies, chronic bowel diseases, and toxic exposures to foods and medicines can all cause gastritis. The bottom line is that if your doctor has not restricted your eating, try popcorn and see how you feel.

Gastritis: yes you can eat avocados.  Their is very little you can put in your stomach that is more acidic that the Hydrochloric acid that the stomach itself produces. The only real restriction are things that you notice cause you discomfort.  Of course medications are a different matter.  Certain medications such as NSAIDs should not be used as they may worsen the condition.  Above all follow your doc.

Yes you can: It depends how severe the gastritis is.As long as you can eat solid food and there is no vomiting you can eat cereal with gastritis, but if you are acutely ill and vomoitng you have to only drink fluids if tolerated or IV fluids  till you are able to tolerate solid foods and than you can eat cereals.
