IBS can be either : Constipation dependent or diarrhea dependent.  The choice of meds will depend on your symptomology. You can take over the counter meds depending on which symptoms are more prevalent in your case. Keep in mind its a diagnosis of exclusion. Dont diagnose yourself and see a physician to rule out any other causes.

No: Ibs is not associated with a rash. There are many other GI conditions that mimic ibs which do cause a rash, including celiac disease (causes dermatitis herpetiformis) and inflammatory bowel disease (erythema nodosum). Check with your doctor to make sure you have been evaluated for these these conditions. Medication can certainly cause a rash as well.
