Stop and walk out&: Stop and walk out of the woods, and go directly to where your inhalers and/or nebuliser are.If you can not get to it, go to the nearest emergency department. You need a bronchodilator and inhaled or oral steroids.

Mild form asthma: There is a very mild form of asthma called Exercise Induced Asthma. Best way to check is to see your MD and get a Peak Flow meter - you puff into it to measure lung strength before exercise - then with symptoms. It can tell you if that's the problem. Also, if you are out of shape and just starting an exercise program this symptom can be possible. Drinks lots of water thru day before exercising.

Not normal: Asthma management depends on the severity of your asthma and which medications you have been prescribed.  If you are following your doctor's recommendations and are still feeling short of breath, a visit to his/her office for evaluation is warranted.

Check with your doc: Your symptoms are probably the tip of the ice berg. You will probably need increased anti inflammatory medications such as inhaled steroids. Check with your lung doc and ask about pulmonary function testing and electronic peak flow meter, such as piko-1.

Peak flow: The rescue inhaler should work pretty fast, if it doesn't go to the er or call 911. A good gauge to how bad your asthma attack is will be your peak flow, if it is in the red it is an emergency.

Breathing test: This test will probably consist of doing a spirometry followed by receiving a bronchodilator and then doing the spirometry again. Based upon the results one 's doc can then understand if there s significant reversibility.
