Other than that, patients on dialysis are usually pain free.

No: Well, i assume you are talking about diabetics with impaired renal function, but just to make sure we're on the same page, a diabetic must have significantly decreased renal function to be considered for dialysis. Not all patients will qualify for that. I'd get a referral to a kidney specialist to start the process of determining what modality will be best for the person in question.

No: Hemodialysis is not painful. But if you mean is the catheter inserted painful. The answer  is no but the doctor usually puts a pain medicine during insertion. After in place, the catheter is not painful.
