Maybe ominous: Sudden sporadic and reversible numbness could be very benign such as hitting one's "funny bone" at the elbow, but if not provoked, numbness in one or two limbs might be a transient ischemic attack due to decreased blood flow in the brain.  Important to sort out problem with brain and spinal cord vrs peripheral nerve issue.

Limb numbness: It will help if you specify whether this is only in 1 limb, only upper or lower limbs, or all limbs. If the numbness/tingling is sudden and in all 4 limbs, then the most likely cause is either hyperventilation or simple anxiety, which may however be severe. Symptoms in 1 limb could be a stroke, nerve injury, or vascular problem. In the upper or lower limbs this could be a spinal nerve problem.

Thots: You might be describing an episode of hemiplegic migraine or another migraine variant, but i cannot exclude structural blood vessel dissection.  This has little to do with hemoglobin unless she possesses sickle cell disease, which might explain the episode.  Have her seen by pediatric neurologist.

Could be: There are several reasons for leg numbness or weakness.  Stroke is one of the.  Pinched nerves can also lead to localized numbness in the leg.  Nerves can be pinched from the spine on down to the back of the leg.  
Numbness is also a symptoms of interruption of blood flow to the leg.  This may result from blood clot in the artery.  In this case the leg will usually be cool and pulseless.

Left sided numbness: These are symptoms of great concern.  There are several possibilites one of which could be a warning of an impending stroke.  You should call your doctor asap to report this and get seen for an examination to determine the cause.  Do not delay this.  If you suddenly worsen call 911.  Alert your family that you are having trouble and do not be alone until you get medical help.

Not so sudden: If it is one event, then it's not so sudden but now subacute. Or if you are talking about recurrent episodes over several days, then most likely transient cerebral ischemic attacks may be occurring or perhaps sensory seizures. If those symptoms are constant, even if intensity is variable, then a small stroke is likely. This needs neurologic attention soon--like today!

You : You need to have that medically evaluated.  Please be seen immediately.  Any numbness of an extremity must be taken very seriously.  There are several different things that could cause this, but the bottom line is you must be medically and neurologically evaluated.  Please be seen as an emergency.

ive had this sudden numbness and weakness in both arms with a pain coming out from my upper spine. it only lasts a minute but is so scary. has happened after i lifted something. very worried?

: Not feasible to be precise, but your description may raise thoughts of cervical stenosis or bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome.  Since you are "worried", have your doctor evaluate this, and uncover the mechanism.
