Maybe ominous: Sudden sporadic and reversible numbness could be very benign such as hitting one's "funny bone" at the elbow, but if not provoked, numbness in one or two limbs might be a transient ischemic attack due to decreased blood flow in the brain. Important to sort out problem with brain and spinal cord vrs peripheral nerve issue.
