Constipation?: Dry, hard pellets can often be consistent with constipation. Stay well hydrated (at least 8 - 8 ounces glasses of water per day). Try to get in 5 servings of vegetables and 4 servings of fruit per day – get that fiber in. Stay physically active if possible.

Not likely: You need to increase the intake of water to the extent that your urine is watery, colorless and odorless. Increase intake of fiber. Since you may be overweight, replace some of your food with vegetables. If that does not help, add a fiber laxative like Metamucil.

Uncommon: cannot say in your particular case, but generally, increased fiber is helpful. Adequate fluid intake is also important.

You need Medical Che: You need a medical check up. Blood in the stools is a serious matter, not to be ignored. yes, it can be due to Cancer but the more common cause is hemorrhoidal bleeding. But only a doctor's examination can sort it out, so go see your doctor without delay.

Not necessarily: The blood in your stool is probably from the hemorrhoids.  you may like to get a screening endoscopy to check for polyps and get biopsies from large or suspicious ones if you have any. Biopsies are to be examined by a pathologist who would determine if there is malignant growth.

Constipation: Pellet-like stools with mucous sound pretty much like simple constipation.  It is not the character of the stools so much as the reason you, at your age, should be having constipation.  If it persists more than a few days, see your doctor. You can safely try OTC stool softeners and increased fluid intake in the meantime.

Constipated...: Even if you are having daily bowel movements, if they are harder and "pellet-like", this is consistent with you being constipated. Increasing your fluid intake and fiber rich foods can help. A trial of over the counter MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) will soften stools. It can be titrated to get a good stool consistency. The only side-effect is too loose stool.

Diet related: The color of stool usually changes mostly with diet, and occasionally with other health issues. If the stool normalizes in a couple of days you know it was something in passing. If it persists, or you develop additional symptoms like. discomfort, lose appetite etc. you should see a doctor. Feel better

Could be: Ibs and other bowel conditions can cause all different sizes and shapes of your stool.  Best to see a GI dr for evaluations, as they can determine alot from your history, the exam, and the description of your stools.  Good luck.
