The follicle turns into a cyst (corpus luteum) which makes progesterone.

It is impossible to predict if hormones, stress, diet or other factors are going to influence the body and lead to the release of more than one egg or early ovulation a second time in your cycle.

Ovulation: Its the process of releasing an egg (or two) from the ovary. After ovulation, the space where the egg came from forms a cyst, called the corpus luteal cyst, which starts making Progesterone to help get the uterus ready for a pregnancy. Once the egg comes out, it will only last an hour or two, so for fertilization (and pregnancy) to occur, it has to fall into a pool of sperm.

Yes: Some woman do not ovulate regularly. And sometimes women ovulate but home tests do not show it. When women have regular periods about 25-30 days apart usually they are ovulating regularly. When periods come sooner or farther apart, chances are high that ovulation is either not happening or doing happening well.

24 hours: You generally ovulate within 24 hours of positive ovulation predictor kit. So recommend intercourse starting day of positive opk.

Ovulation: The testing is pretty sensitive. You need to have a surge of ovulation hormones at midcycle which includes FSF, LH, estrogen and progesterone. The testing measures this, and I would trust your testing.  Sounds like you should talk to your provider and perhaps have a visit with a physician versed in reproduction.

Luteal phase: After ovulation your body enters the luteal phase.  This is the time the early developing embryo grows and finds a place to implant.  Hormones are devoted to preparing the uterus and endometrial lining for pregnancy.

Uterus: The egg travels to the uterus via the fallopian tubes.  Once in the uterus the egg waits for fertilization.  If fertilization doesn't occur the egg is either resorbed by the body or is flushed out with the menstrual cycle.
