Dpnds on Gender/lab: The normal range depends on the lab and gender. In our laboratory the lower limit of normal for a female would be 12.0 g/dl. The rbc is number of red blood cells and is a second way of measuring red cells along with the hemoglobin value.

Complicated.: Low MCV usually is due to iron deficiency anemia, but not in your case since your hemoglobin is normal.  Most likely is an inherited condition called thalassemia, likely alpha thal given the relatively high Hgb level.  There are number of other conditions, but if the rest of the CBC is normal and you feel well, thal is likely.  If in the past your MCV was normal, it's something else and needs eval

Increased absorption: Iron control is mediated by absorption and secretion, with iron used most frequently in red blood cell metabolism and liver breakdown (heme is broken down by the liver into bilirubin). So, increased iron may just be related to changes in metabolism of blood or liver function.

Need values: What is your hemoglobin and what is your RBC count?
However, with a normal RBC count, it is unlikely that you have polycythemia.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

my  6 mos old baby has hb level of 11.8 and she has been prescribed orafer xt by her paed. her wt. is lower than normal. is it ok to give so?

Yes: The HGB lever is a little low for age & it is common to give iron as an initial way of assuring baby has the iron needed to build blood. Failure to improve her level after iron may require additional studies. The level is not at a worrisome point.

Not sure.: Laboratory error. In fact maybe both measurements are in error. The gut cannot absorb more than about 5 mg iron per day.  This is insufficient to change your iron levels in the way you describe.

i've been taking iron tablets 210mg 3x a day for a week. my hb went from 11.3 to 10.2 - even tho i feel a bit better. how long b4 hb back 2 normal?

Week is too short: if you're truly iron deficient, it will take at least 4-6 weeks to replenish your stores and see the concurrent rise in hemoglobin and (hopefully) resolution of anemia.

and i have been taken iron tablets of 35 mg for a month now .is it normal?

Yes: Your hemoglobin is normal. You may wish to continue taking iron as women are at risk of iron deficiency due to loss of blood during menstruation.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.

gestational sac measuring two weeks smaller than baby. baby measuring normal for dates and hb is good. why is the sac so small and is this a bad sign?

Small gest sac: Would not be too concerned about sac size.  If CRL is appropriate and HB is good those are very good signs.  Be patient.  Too early yet to tell much.  Hope this helps.  Best of luck. And Congratulations!
