I guess you could: If you had all the proper ingredients and machinery to make these products. But why would you want to? By the time you invested all the money necessary to manufacture them, you could have bought a lifetime supply of products that are already being made.

Depends: Most that I have seen in use do not. Such a powder would interfere with the particle filter. You can look on line for most branded products &amp; find their content specifications.

See your doctor.: There's many things can cause the problem you have. There's also many skin types, so the treatment will be differed based on your skin type and condition. I recommend you see your doctor. If possible you can ask your doctor refer you to see a dermatologist.

what benefit does a surgical mask have over simply using a handkerchief or shirt to cover ones face ?

Some: A surgical mask has a few benefits. While it has not quite caught on here, in some places, such as japan, it is considered polite to wear a mask when you have a cold and prevents any incidental spittle, dry coughs, etc. From spreading infection.  The mask is guaranteed to be clean and stay over face without using the hands.  A hankerchief may need a hand to hold in in place, further spreading germs.

Social distance: A regular face mask is not helpful in preventing coronavirus.  You should practice social distancing. Keep more than 6 feet away from people.

Disposable Masks: The masks are designed to be disposable to help prevent cross contamination. But you are correct, in short supply there are listed ways to help prolong their life for multiple uses, although it is not 100% proven that these methods will not degrade their effectiveness. Checking face: multiple times daily MAY be a form of OCD.  Please get the freckle checked by your doc and tell him/her about the face checking.  A mental health professional may be a good person to see.  Peace and good health.

COVID 19: The average mask/ face covering actually helps to prevent other people from getting your germs. N-95 respiratory and other PPE provide increased protection.

are face shield okay to put on instead of face mask ?

They are different: A face mask filters out aerosols that may contain COVID and helps prevent them from entering your nose or mouth. A face shield prevents splatter and keeps aerosols out of your eyes... but it does not filter anything out. A mask with glasses is your best bet. Although masks can be uncomfortable, a ventilator and/or organ failure is far worse. Masks are really a small sacrifice to protect everyone.
