More room for brain!: There is nothing wrong with having a large head.  Macrocephaly is just a descriptive term, not a diagnosis.  Some very successful and famous people have it. Keep yourself an equally large smile!

Genetics: There are by definition 3% of the normal adult population that are classified as having an over sized head & 3% that would be considered small. When i see it in a kid i usually find either mom or dad has one also. There are syndromes & birth defect (hydrocephalus) that can also produce a large head, but by far the largest group just inherited the feature.

Depends on situation: For many, it means you have a genetically larger head size, as i do, making finding a hat that fits a bit difficult. For some infants, it can mean a build up of pressure within the skull caused by abnormal fluid flows within the brain, requiring a surgical procedure.

Macrocephaly: Large heads in infancy need to be followed by pedi MD over time. By itself, can be due to parental large head.
If it is out of range and no family history and other things are occurring, i.e. delayed speech and behaviors this can be a soft sign to autism spectrum disorders.

CSF fluid leaks causing that increase, hydrocephalus Neurologist need

Yes.: Weight varies with height.   But head size has nothing to do with height or weight.  So although it is possible that someone's body could grow to match their large head, there is no guarantee it will happen.   Further, the percentage of your body length that is your head is about 30% at birth, but only 10% as an adult, so babies tend to have bigger heads than adults.

Big Head: Yes, a thin person can have a large head and a large person can have a small head.  If your head is unusually big or if it is increasing in size, then you need to be evaluated. The important thing is that you use the head you have been given.:)

Achondroplasia: People with this condition give the impresion of having a large head because they usually have frontal bossing(prominent forehead) and a flat nasal root. Actually their head is normal in size but disproportionate to their body.
