POC/Infection: Retained products of conception (placental fragments, membranes) and infection can cause post partum bleeding and would require treatment. Some patients can develop a bleeding problem due to an underlying bleeding disorder. Follow up with the delivering physician. It helps to know how much bleeding and how long since the delivery and whether it was vaginal or c-section.

hi there, do fibroids affect normal bleeding time after childbirth? how long is it meant to take? also does the pill affect anything in that regard?

Depends:: Uterine fibroids are very, very common.  Most cause no problems.  Sometimes they can affect periods. They don't make bcp's less effective.  If you are having unusual bleeding patterns or pain, there are likely other causes.  If you have two abnormal periods in a row, and you are not pregnant, get checked.

after childbirth, i had my menstruation and that day i started taking birthcontrol pills. however, the bleeding only lasted for a day, is that normal?

Sure: Light periods are one of the benefits of taking birth control.

im 4 months postpartum, and started my period a month after childbirth. it was going regularly until this month. i had a period for 7 days, then a week later, i started bleeding again. is this normal postpartum? not breastfeeding?

: Irregular bleeding can be caused by multiple factors, including pregnancy outside the uterus (ectopic). If pregnancy is possible, get a home pregnancy test, or a serum HCG test to be certain.  See your GYN physician for guidance.

had normal colonoscopy. no polyps at all.has hemorrhoids internally&externally,since childbirth.they are bleeding more often recently-takes miralax on occasion. w/ miralax improvement. pain in lower back, gas/bloating. serious? u?

: Consider seeing your internist for an exam and some GI care.  You may also wish to consult a surgeon about your hemorrhoids.

Late results: Occasionally you may be expelling retained blood and clots from your  pregnancy.

It can be: Spotting can occur for up to 6 weeks but it is unusual.  If the bleeding is more, call your doctor though.  Infections and subinvolution can both cause prolonged bleeding.  By the way, subinvolution is where the part of the uterus that was attached to the placenta doesn't heal well.  Good luck!

wmn age 63.hemorrhoids for 23 years after child birth.internal.recently they have been bleeding more, not a lot but noticeable in toilet and on tissue. bleeding about 2 wk. dr rx miralax which has been working but bleeding returned 2day.cancer?

Colonoscopy: Return to your doctor to review this.  The only way to know for sure if you have cancer is to do a biopsy with a colonoscopy.  Bright red blood is more likely to be hemorrhoids but that is not foolproof.  Let your doctor know of your concerns.

Infection: infection and/or pelvic inflammation can result in adhesions.

May have 2 things: Going on, u may post partum uterine atony, or retained products of conception in the uterus , so you will, so you will need an exam and an ultrasound by your ob, and you may have pain from pubic symphysis separation if it is right in the front , an MRI can diagnose this or sometimes an xray so both problems need to be evaluated.
