Like tetracycline...: Doxycycline in a broad spectrum antibiotic has a wide range of indications. Unlike tetracycline, it is more foregiving when it comes to milk ( it does lose its effectiveness if taken concurrently). You still have to watch out for side effects such as photo sensitivity ( bad sunburn when exposed to the sun) and severe nausea. It should not be taken at the same time as iron or calcium supplements.

Primary Hygiene is still important to keep area clean. Yes doxy-cycline can work for some skin infection but be sure to see an MD if infection does not clear in a few days or so.

Not very: As long as you are on antibiotics and wash your hands after irrigations, those around you should be safe.  Stay away from newborns, extremely aged, and those with impaired immune systems (chronically ill or cancer patients) just to be safe.

Can take weeks: Sometimes it can take days to weeks or even longer to have many of the symptoms resolve. your MD if fevers continues.

Sure, no problem: You shouldn't take dairy products within an hour of doxycycline. Anything more than an hour is OK.

just changed from minocycline to doxycycline drug leaflet said not to lay down for 30min after taking...why? what should i kno bout doxy?

Burn esophagus: Be sure you swallow it completely. If it is stuck in the esophagus it will burn it which is very painful. You do NOT need to avoid lying down. If taking for acne, note that for adult women only 10% respond. They all improve with spironolactone, which is also cheaper and better tolerated and not an antibiotic.Spironolactone is also good for blood pressure and it conserves potassium.

Doxy: Some adolecents take low dose doxycycline for months without problems. Sensitivity to Sun exposure and nausea are occasional side effects which clear on discontinuing the medication. In my experience doxy cycline is very well tolerated.

Doxycycline ; dairy: Tetracycline blood levels are decreased when taken with dairy products. Doxycline (vibromycin) blood levels are much less effected. Wait an hour and eat some yogurt if u want to.  In my humble opinion but i will wait to hear from my colleagues if they disagree.

should doxycycline (100 mg) 2x daily for 2 weeks after that 1x daily for 3 weeks and again 2x daily for 2 weeks cure early secondary syphillys if it were present. my tpha and elisa test are negative and im taking doxy for dermatological problems?

: These doses of doxycycline are 100% effective against syphilis. If you were taking doxy at the time of exposure, you could not have been infected with syphilis. If you started after exposure, it would have cured syphilis -- probably before syphilis blood tests would have become positive. Your negative blood tests are reliable and prove you were not infected; they do not need to be repeated.

Maybe: Maybe you are getting sick? Could you be pregnant?
While the antibiotic can cause GI distress no way to figure this out without changing the med. See a Doctor for follow up.
