Depends: are you on hormonal birth control?  If so then the bleed you have between cycles may continue to get lighter and lighter.  Yif you are on the pill or patch or ring, that " bleed " one has between cycles is actually not a period" , you don't actually menstruate since you don't ovulate, but do have bleeding if the progesterone component is stopped.

A light period: Irregular periods are one of the most common problems obgyns treat. If this is one time problem it usually resolves on its own. If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections &amp;  hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do  a home pregnancy test .  There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. Schedule a visit.

Variation: Follicle size will vary to some degree. Follicles will also vary depending on any hormonal medication administered.

Alcohol a culprit?: People should learn how to drink rationally, not to abuse alcohol. That is if they are not alcohol dependent. I don't believe an episode of too much drinking can cause a menstrual cycle.

Menses: Normal range is 21-35 days.  Two periods in one month is probably too close together.  Should be checked.  If you are on birth control pills it is easier to control the bleeding.  Situational problems, stress can cause missed or extra periods.

See below.: If you did not have unprotected sex, there is no need to worry. Menstrual irregularities are not uncommon and anovulatory cycle is a common cause. If you miss more than two periods it would be time to see your doctor. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time. You may consider implanted contraceptive or an IUD.

Paragard: The copper iud devive is not supposed to affect your cycle. If any it will increase some the amount of bleeding that you see during the first couple of months.  No method is 100%  effective. Always consider pregnancy if you missed yuor period.

Irregular period: Check HCG. Also check thyroid. if both negative consider sonogram as miscarriage will not show up on HCG testing and will check for polycystic ovaries.

Get checked: That's not normal, i'd suggest you see your doctor - but absolutley no cause for alarm, just needs to be sorted out.
