Sped of life: It's okay to be discouraged.  We all are at times.  Life seems like one big mountain but it is really a series of mole hills which we climb.   Write in a journal daily and soon you will know you are going somewhere.  Write down one accomplishment every day.  Try not to let your thoughts run your life but you run them.  Rest, exercise and eat regularly.   Remember the turtle won the race !

Depends: In general, those with asperger's have a roughly normal to possible quite high iq.  This partly is the way it's defined, because language development has to be at least "normal, " and that correlates highly with iq.  So, these individuals have marked social impairments and odd behaviors but normal or better iq.

do borderline pd patients tend to have a lower iq than average people? it's just that they seem to have problems with rational thinking.

Accepted Answer

No: Having borderline pd has nothing to do with lower IQ. Rather, feelings can be overwhelming for these patients which makes rational thinking harder to pay attention to. Often early interpersonal trauma leads to borderline pd and experiences like that can be absolutely terrifying.

No: Half of humankind is "below average" by definition on any measure. Not everybody is meant to be a star student, and the standard iq tests are really measures that predict academic success. The happiest guy in the town in which i grew up was a tramp who did day work. And i became much happier when i stopped worrying about others' gifts ; resolved to use my own modest talents to be helpful to others.

The only limitations: in life are those you place upon yourself. An IQ of 117 is well above average, but we don't fit into neat categories like "bright" or "smart." If you act as if you have no limits, you will achieve far more. Hope this helps!

IQ of people w': Aspergers is by definition at least average (90-109). It may be even higher. There is a lot of variation between various subsections of IQ test. So in some areas they may be above average while on others below average IQ. It is hard to get an exact accurate IQ because of these fluctuations.

i was diagnosed with below average intelligence after a mental exam in a hospital.  does it mean this is my permanent iq or my iq during this time?

Hard to say: IQ tests were originally designed to predict performance in academic pursuits. Since "average" is assigned to an IQ of 100, you could be considered below average if 99, although it would  not use the label until you were 15 points down.  You can always under-perform on such tests due to transient conditions. If you were in a state of good health it is likely how you would always function.

i've always wanted to be a doctor. i took an iq test and it told me my iq was 115. above average. is this good enough to become a doctor with?

No: Just like anything in life intelligence guarantees nothing.  You will need a track record of good academic performance, an ethical demeanor and determination.  That and 115 will get you an md.  I am sure there are doctors with low IQ who have worked very hard and achieved great success.

Sketchy: As accurate as you want them to be. That is, "real" IQ tests are taken in a controlled, supervised environment. They are also interpreted by professionals who take int account the test-taking environment. Automatic, on line tests o none of that.
