Do borderline pd patients tend to have a lower iq than average people? it's just that they seem to have problems with rational thinking.

No: Having borderline pd has nothing to do with lower IQ. Rather, feelings can be overwhelming for these patients which makes rational thinking harder to pay attention to. Often early interpersonal trauma leads to borderline pd and experiences like that can be absolutely terrifying.
