However, typically an ot will work with your child and your family to assist in increasing functionality of the activities of daily living, whether that means toilet training, eating and dressing as examples. Lots of ways!: On ot can help you to do the adl's (activites of daily living) that you as a disabled person need to be able to do to be as independenta as you can.  They will teach you how to care for your self, you personal grooming, cooking, cleaing, toileting, and the activites you do every day.  They will show you easier ways, better ways, short cuts and provide you with assistive devices to help you.

OT can be helpful: After a stroke the function of the arm or hand may be affected. If this is the case the ability to do basic activities of daily living can be impaired.  In this situation occupational therapy is part of standard rehabilitation along with other therapy disciplines like phyical therapy and if needed speech therapy.
