Amoxicillin/clavulin: Amoxicillin is a penicillin w/potent activity against susceptible gram + (e.g.:streps) & some gram - (e.G:e-coli). Sinus, dental, oral/pharyngeal infections may respond.  When clavulinate is added, the antibiotic eating enzyme beta-lactam is inhibited from eating amox.  This makes 'super amox' & increases spectrum: some staph's, more gram - & anaerobic infections. (same infections but better).

Ampiclox is Ampicillin plus cloxacillin which extends the spectrum to better treat staphylococcus (not mrsa).  Amoxicillin is a 3x daily ampicillin.

Yes.. but: I would be wary with ampicillin as most strains are beta-lactamase + . Unless, the lab test shows penicillin or ampicillin sensitivity I will not use this drug to treat staph infection blindly. A better relative drug option is amoxicillin-clavulanic acid, the latter component inhibits the beta-lactamase enzyme. Cloxacillin and amox-clav will act against Methicillin sensitive staph but not MRSA.
