How do you feel: Before going to over crowded  ER  (  mostly due to need less visits burden the over already  worked E R staff who do not take care of themselves with preventive measures  )  Call your doctor first , if unavailable , yes you need urgent help to bring it down  &amp; avoid complications , then follow up with your medications

Blood pressure : Please take your medication as prescribed. Dose adjustment may be needed keep a log of your blood pressure morning and evening and show to MD. The type of medication you are taking e.g. Ace inhibitor versus diuretic both etc other medications conditions and exact bp play a role in recommendations. See your MD please.

ECG may not be : helpful, if heart rate is normal. Getting checked by your doctor is key, as soon as possible is important.  Could be at risk for stroke if BP is this high.

Hypertension: Htn is called the "silent killer" for a reason meaning symptoms frequently occur late if at all.  Talk to your physician & get screened.  Preventive techniques include maintaining an ideal body weight, exercising regularly & moderating alcohol consumption.

See below: The systolic blood pressure  is considered elevated (at rest) if it's 140 mmHg or greater until age 59. At age 60, the systolic blood pressure is considered elevated of it is 150 mmHg or greater. There is no general average for patients who have hypertension, but you can trend your individual average blood pressure.

HTN/Sitting: It depends how high is high.  If you have no other symptoms that would suggest an acute issue which is does not seem like all that may be needed is adjustment of your medication and the time period and dosing of the medication

Hypertension: Yes, you should be concerned.  This blood pressure reading is too high.  You should get checked by your primary care provider.  You may not have any problems at all, but if you blood pressure is this high, you may need to be on medicine to correct it.  I'd recommend seeing someone fairly soon about it.

BP control.: Certain life situations will cause the BP to rise even if you’re on medications; this can include exercise and episodes of emotional stress or physical exertion.  This is normal and expected.  But your BP at baseline should be in adequate control and your BP numbers under times of such stress should not rise excessively.  24 hour BP monitoring can help to qualify this.

Optimal healthy=SBP: (sitting, resting, heart level) &lt;120 mmHg (e.g.95 to 115 mmHg) &amp; DBP &lt;80 mmHg (typically ~40 mmHg lower). Which has greater correlation with problems over time? Overwhelmingly SBP. Even more so PP (Pulse Pressure=SBP-DBP difference). Of course, with any physical activity, anger, frustration (possibly fear), SBP rapidly goes up, but should return to healthy resting values within 10 minutes at most.
