This is helpful for people with diabetes, a disease in which high blood glucose causes damage to the body over time or, if the glucose is severely high or has risen very quickly, can be fatal rapidly if left untreated.  A normal blood glucose before eating is under 100, diabetic is over 125.

Calibrate: The glucose monitor company can send you solutions of a known glucose level.  When you test the solution, if the answer matches the known level, the machine is accurate.

Excellent: For people who are in intensive Insulin regimens like the Insulin pump, it has been very helpful to fine tune Insulin delivery.  For people who are still in injections it has helped me to convince them they need to proceed to the next step, because it shows them how unreliable giving Insulin in bursts through the skin

Normal: This is a metered blood sugar which is not as accurate as a lab glucose. Please see your doctor if you have concerns about pre-diabetes or diabetes.

Need education : You need to be educated about pros and cons about checking your sugars ,I am not sure you are diabetic or not but still see your PCP ,So he or she can advise about this

Glucometer can: I doubt that there is an app independent of your glucometer that will automatically  import your blood glucose values. On the other hand, there are glucometers that will record your sugars automatically and allow them to be pulled up easily. I'm sure they can be internet linked if they aren't already.

If they work: To be considered accurate, a blood glucose monitor may be up to 15-18% off when compared to a lab glucose done at the same time.

Yes: A morning fasting value of greater than 126 will indicated diabetes as well as any random blood sugar of 200 or more.  Both of these readings should be repeated on another day to verify.  This should be done with guidance from your physician.

Chemical reaction: There is a sharp lance that gets a drop of blood.  This goes onto a strip that undergoes a chemical reaction.  The resultant color reaction is read my the meter and translated into the number that appears of the face of the meter and tells you the blood sugar is at that time.
