Depends on the bite.: If it is a venomous snake, immediate medical evaluation is required to determine whether Antivenin is required.  Knowing the type of snake will help (native vs. Exotic) significantly.  Also, tetanus status needs to be determined.  The most important piece of equipment needed after a venomous snakebite is a phone to call for help!

Can be: Non-venemous just means no toxic/dangerous substance from the snake going inside your dbody, but the punctures from the teeth can be painful in certain areas of the body--sensitive areas. Fortunately though, these are often small and only causes minor discomfort, escpecially if you have high pain tolerance..
Monitor for signs of infection...Swelling, redness, pain, puss etc...

Conservative care: If the bite is of a venamous snake you would need antivenom specific for the type of snake eg. Rattlesnake. It needs to be given soon after the bite.  You need to be at an emergency room!   the old treament of making incisions in the skin and sucking out the poison is not effective.  Otherwise care is supportive to clean wound and treat bacterial  infection if present.

Don't see how: It would help the victim relax and not panic, but it wouldn't do anything helpful about the bite itself.  If the snake is venomous, a specific anti venom is needed.  Even if non-venomous, the wound needs disinfection and local treatment.  A tranquilizer can't do any of that.
