Maybe something else: Lots of other organs in the abdomen and pelvis.  Other tests that may help include:careful history and physical exam, labs, sono of abdomen/pelvis (safe, painless, no xray), small bowel evaluation with capsule study,  ct or mr enterography.
Sometimes can be from adhesions from old surgery or inflammation, sometimes internal hernias, sometimes referred pain from back.
Keep looking.

i had an endoscopy done a few months ago and they found nothing but mild reflux all biopsy came back clear. still taking omperzole and such for the reflux. im 22 years old and very healthy. could my reflux turn into cancer of the esophagus?

Not in short term: Cancer of the esophagus is a possible long tern consequence of reflux/Barrett's esophagitis. The fact that you have mild reflux, like a majority of adults, means there is no sign it will happen in the near term. If it worsens &amp; you have it for decades it is might be something in your future. At this point I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

is it possible to have chronic pancreatitis without having had acute pancreatitis? could acute pancreatitis be missed due to not being severe enough to land person in a hospital? year of upper left abd & back pain. mrcp, colonoscopy &endoscopy clear?

: The diagnosis of chronic pancreatitis is difficult &amp; sometimes the cause is elusive. Gall stones are high on the list of causes of acute pancreatitis.  Have you had a prior history of gall bladder disease?  Chronic pancreatitis often leads to intestinal malabsorption of fats or diabetes. Some cases are caused by an autoimmune disorder. Acute episode could have been missed. GI MD advises best.

Mononucleosis: Mono is a common problem in adolescents. Called the kissing disease. It is due to a virus called Epstein Barr. Causes prolonged sore throat, fatigue and fever. See a doctor to get blood tests to rule this out. Can gargle with Listerine to help kill bacteria and viruses in the throat. Gargle and spit it out when it burns. Nasty stuff but works well. Take acetaminophen for throat pain.

28 yo clear colonoscopy and endoscopy, and all full blood work that came back normal as well. could pancreatic cancer be causing my low abdomen pain?

Highly unlikely: Put your mind at ease. Pancreatic cancer is rare below age 45. The pain of pancreatic cancer usually is in the pit of the stomach, not the lower abdomen, and radiates around to the sides and/or straight thru to the back. It may be intermittent and made worse by eating or lying supine. It is frequently worse at night. Lying in a curled or fetal position may improve the pain.

Accepted Answer

Usually: Prevacid (lansoprazole) helps with acid reflux. If use of proton pump inhibitors, GERD precautions like Upright 1 hour b/f and after meals, no smoking, minimizing alcohol, avoiding NSAIDS, small frequent meals and HOB elevation do not improve symptoms, alternative diagnosis may be considered.

Left lateral side: Most endoscopies are performed with you turned into the left lateral position--this means you are turned onto your left side. This takes advantage of the body's anatomy. Since your stomach is on the left side, turning you to the left allows the endoscope to drop into your stomach. The left position also reduces your risk of aspirating saliva or stomach contents were you instead on your back.

Usually a few days: Slides are usually ready for the pathologist to examine the next day or so after the biopsy. Depending on whether additional tests need to be performed, a diagnosis may be available in 24-48 hours after the procedure. The results typically go to your doctor first who will contact you. Additional tests (such as to check for the bacteria that produce stomach ulcers) may add an extra day.
