Usually not much: If you are referring to closing your eyes periodically throughout the day while still awake, nothing will happen for the most part. However, if you are referring to sleeping, then it can be a dangerous thing to sleep in your contacts because it increases your chances of infection.

They float away: If you open your eyes underwater with contact lenses, there is a very good chance you will lose them in the water.   Wear swim goggles over your contacts or don't swim in them.

Give them time: Your eyes need to adjust to your new contacts. The lenses may not be the right fit or may be causing you to have dry eyes. If things do not improve within a few days, or you start having discomfort when wearing the lenses, discontinue wearing them and see your eye doctor.

Something in eye!!: Because you have something in your eye. Seriously this is the answer. It it also the same answer as to why contacts cause dry eyes, red eyes, discomfort, pain, eye infections such as keratitis, on and on.

No: Just caused blurred vision, which presumably resolved when you switched them back to the correct contact in the correct eye.  However, if eyes are red, painful, having discharge or vision remains poor even with changing back the contacts, the contacts should be removed and symptoms evaluated with an exam.

How irritating!: Red eyes in this case mean one thing - your eyes are irritated. Now the trick is to find out why.  It could be your lens solution, the wrong type of contact (you may need the more "breathable ones", the wrong fit, leaving them in to long, a crappy environment (to dry, smoky, etc..).  I would talk to my ophthalmologist to make sure fit and style are right for you, then try gradually changing things.

Dry eye usually: Patients who wear contact lenses are at increased risk for developing dry eye, which can lead to contact lens intolerance.  Patients will often report that their eyes feel irritated or dry as an early sign of dry eye..  Additional signs can include blurred vision.  Therapy with dry eye treatments and even punctal plugs can make a major impact in this condition. Please see your eye doctor.
