what happens when you bust your vein on your knuckle?

Black and blue: I a vein should burst then what you will see is the formation after several days of discoloration of the skin around the area of the burst vein.  This is what we call a black and blue area(ecchymosis). Over several more days this will slowly fade and disappear.

what would cause your vain next to your ankle sting and swell? my vein next to my ankle started stinging, and got so big i thought it would bust, the little veins around it also swelled, ever since that happened i have felt weak, and upset to my stomache,

Accepted Answer

The : The most important thing to rule-out based on your description, would be phlebitis, an inflamed clot in a vein.  The veins at the ankle level are small, so it's unlikely you have a deep vein thrombosis, but you're also having systemic symptoms, which can be a significant finding.  A deep vein thrombosis has the ability to send little (or big) clots up to your lungs, and can even be life-threatening.  Symptoms of a pulmonary embolus (a clot in your lung sent up from a leg vein) are shortness of breath and chest pain.  If you have either of these symptoms, even mildly, you must go to an er now, and get heparin, which will dissolve the clot.  I hope this is not the case with you, but i'm very concerned.

my veins bust on the backs of my legs & the insides of my arms. it leaves enormous bruises. why does this happen? i'm healthy, 28 years old, not heavy

Accepted Answer

Capillary fragility: If you just had this in your legs, we would say you probably have venous hypertension and/ or venous insufficiency. This can be diagnosed at a vein center, with  a venous doppler ultrasound exam: look up phlebologist in your area www.Phlebology.Org when you have in both, some people just have capillary fragility and there isn't much to do about this and not dangerous.

can you bust a vessel or vein in your eye by blowing your nose too  hard?

Accepted Answer

Indeed: You have a subconjunctival hemorrhage due to the increased pressure you created in your eye by blowing your nose.  Be careful.  The redness will resolve slowly but is usually not a major problem.  It may be good to check your blood pressure to make sure your pressure is normal.  If the redness does not resolve or is quite pronounced, see a physician.  Good luck!

Bruising : Check with your doctor to see if you have a clotting problem or a problem with your tissues.

Difficult to say: If you have noticed a recent change in the appearance of the veins, then a medical exam is my recommendation

This is prob not a serious problem, but it is impossible to give you that reassurance without a visual exam.

can it be normal to have very visible veins on arms, legs, and chest/breast even at 35? i'm pale and very thin. petrified of vascular ehlers-danlos.

Veins can be seen: If you are pale and thin, you would  be a typical person where veins could be seen in the areas you described and can occur even before age 35. If you are 35 and Ehlers Danlos has never been brought up to you previously by a medical professional there is less chance you have the condition. to relax further see your primary care or a rheumatologist. good luck

Not true, but...: If there is any reason to believe you have a congenital brain aneurysm, or if you have a true headache problem, see a neurologist after a regular check-up with your pcp .  Headaches should not simply be thought of 'it's just stress';  new onset of headaches, or a change in type or frequency of headache must be evaluated.

hello, i have had a black pimple like thing on my right breats for about 2-3 weeks now. i have tried to bust it like a pimple and nothing happens?

Pimple: you need to be seen by your GYN to rule out melanoma or other disease. please STOP trying to " bust' QND DO TO DOCTOR

Healthy living : Eat a well balanced diet , exercise regularly , sleep well, avoid recreational drugs, tobacco and alcohol . Have your thyroid checked again as your medications may need adjustments . Also, have your doctor go over your meds to determine if having a low libido could be a med side effect . In addition, minimize stress .
