Yes!: Sexual activity is not a prerequisite to getting urinary tract infections although it does increase the risk for them.  Virginal people with recurrent UTIs should practice impeccable genitourinary hygiene, avoid synthetic underwear, use hypoallergenic fragrance free washes, shower rather than bathe, and have an evaluation for underlying anatomic issues.

UTI: Not being more specific and not knowing your symptoms is difficult to predict. Simplr bladder infections cn many times be cleared by just drinking fluids and and voiding to wash bacteria out of your bladder. More severe infections can spread to your kidneys and make you very sick, fever, chills, etc. The short answer is get checked and get treated.

Needs 2B treated: With appropriate antibiotics ; should be properly evaluated. Need to find out why not responding to treatment, assuming u have received treatment already. Possibly the wrong antibiotic used. Infection can not cleared due to presence of an infected stone in kidney or bladder?, this would need 2B removed. Incomplete bladder emptying due to retention, bladder or urethral diverticulum?   See urologist.

Could prog to kidney: It not treated there is the possibility of it spreading up from the bladder to the kidneys and causing a more serious type of UTI called pyleonephritis.

More susceptible: Once you get a UTI you are more likely to get one again for a while because the ability of the bladder to resist infection has been reduced by the infection.  Make sure you are getting cultures done and treating your infections appropriately, stay hydrated, take cranberry (juice or capsule), void before and after sex, and wipe front to back to reduce your risks.
